Dr. Soumita Bid is an accomplished academic and researcher with expertise in Environmental Engineering and Water Resource Management. She has over 12 years of teaching experience and a robust research portfolio, focusing on computational and sustainable methodologies in engineering. A recipient of the Elite Plus Silver Medal in NPTEL’s Stress Management course, Dr. Bid is also an active member of the Society of Indoor Environment. She continues to mentor undergraduate projects and advance innovative solutions in environmental and hydraulic systems.
Educational Details
Dr. Soumita Bid holds a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from S.V. National Institute of Technology, Surat, specializing in Environmental Engineering. She earned her Master of Technology in Civil Engineering with a focus on Environmental Engineering from the same institution in August 2006. Dr. Bid completed her Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) with Distinction (67.7%) from M.S. University, Baroda, Gujarat, in 2001. Additionally, she holds a Diploma in Software Technology from CMC Limited, achieved in 2002 with an A grade.
Professional Experience
Dr. Bid began her career in the industry, working as an Engineer (Projects) at Anwesha Comtech Engg. Pvt. Ltd. from September 2002 to March 2004, gaining hands-on experience in project management and environmental systems. She transitioned to academia in 2007, serving as an Adhoc Lecturer at STBS Surat before joining C.K. Pithawala College of Engineering & Technology (C.K.P.C.E.T.), Surat, where she has been a faculty member since December 2008. Currently, she serves as an Assistant Professor, contributing to teaching, research, and curriculum development.
Research Interests
Dr. Bid’s research spans Environmental Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, and Fluid Mechanics. She focuses on computational fluid dynamics, soft computing techniques, sustainable development, water and wastewater management, and nutrient extraction methodologies. She is particularly interested in applying advanced computational methods like fuzzy computing to environmental hydraulics and infrastructure projects.
