Prof. Dr. Giuseppe Carbone is an internationally recognized researcher in the field of robotics and mechatronics. Currently a Professor at the University of Calabria, he has made significant contributions to engineering design, mechanical systems, and robotic manipulation. He is a prolific author, editor, and researcher with extensive global collaborations. As an editorial board member for multiple prestigious journals, he serves as Editor-in-Chief of ROBOTICA (Cambridge University Press), Section Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Bionic Engineering (Springer), and Technical Editor of IEEE/ASME Transactions on Mechatronics, among others. His research excellence has earned him over 30 best paper awards and 10 international patent awards.

Prof. Dr. Giuseppe Carbone is currently a Professor at DIMEG, University of Calabria, a position he has held since 2018. He has been actively involved in international academia and research, having delivered courses and conducted research in Germany, Japan, China, South Korea, Brazil, Spain, the UK, and France. He was a key member of the Laboratory of Robotics and Mechatronics (LARM) at the University of Cassino for nearly 20 years. Since 2020, he has chaired the IFToMM Technical Committee on Robotics and Mechatronics. Over his career, he has served as a principal investigator (PI) or co-PI in over 20 projects, including those funded by the 7th European Framework and H2020 programs. He has also participated in over 20 Ph.D. evaluation committees across various countries, including Italy, Spain, Finland, the UK, Romania, and Mexico. In recognition of his scientific contributions, he has been awarded two Honoris Causa Doctoral Degrees by the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca and the University of Craiova.

Prof. Carbone’s research focuses on Robotics, Mechatronics, Engineering Design, Mechanics of Manipulation and Grasp, and the Mechanics of Machinery. His contributions include over 400 research publications, 20 patents, and the supervision or co-supervision of 16 Ph.D. students. He has been invited to deliver keynote speeches and seminars at more than 30 international events.
