Abstract: This study explores the potential of salivary cortisol as a biomarker for temporomandibular disorders (TMD) in adults. The authors examined the salivary cortisol levels in patients diagnosed with TMD and compared them with control groups. The findings suggest that elevated cortisol levels, particularly in the morning, may be linked to TMD, thus presenting cortisol as a potential biomarker for this condition.
