Educational Details:

Pegah Khosravani completed her Ph.D. in Soil Resource Management from the Faculty of Agricultural Engineering at Shiraz University, Shiraz, in 2024, graduating with an impressive GPA of 19.51 out of 20. Her doctoral research focused on the digital mapping and modeling of soil properties using machine learning algorithms and geostatistical methods. Prior to her Ph.D., she earned her M.Sc. in Soil Science from the same institution in 2019, with a GPA of 18.37 out of 20. Her master’s thesis delved into the morphology, mineralogy, and classification of soils within a toposequence in the Fasarood area of Darab, Fars Province. Pegah also holds a B.Sc. in Soil Science from Shiraz University, achieved in 2017 with a GPA of 17.18 out of 20, during which she conducted research on the effects of various chemical conditions and land use on soil phosphorus status. She has excelled academically throughout her career, being ranked the top student at all educational levels and is a member of the elite and brilliant talent association in her country.

Professional Experience

Since March 2024, Pegah has been a Research Assistant at the Faculty of Sciences, Department of Geosciences at the University of Tübingen, Germany, where she works under the supervision of Prof. Thomas Scholten. Prior to this, she served as a Visiting Researcher at the same department from September 2023 to March 2024. Her academic journey also includes a research assistant position at Shiraz University (2019-2023), where she gained extensive teaching experience in soil science, cartography, and land capability and suitability laboratories.

Research Interest

Pegah’s research primarily revolves around modeling soil properties, biodiversity, and spatial modeling of soil biotic and biological indices. She has a keen interest in soil classification, mineralogy, and soil class mapping. Her work also explores the role of soils in climate change mitigation and adaptation, with a focus on digital soil mapping for sustainable soil management. Additionally, she investigates the application of remote sensing in soil studies.
